Agnew H. Johnston School - 2006

Over a three day period in the month of April, students created a large adult and baby eagle sculpture out of cardboard and coloured paper, with Aboriginal Artist Moses Beaver. Both eagles were built with a place for students and teachers to put notes inside, providing the opportunity to release ones sorrows or fears or to send ones thoughts and wishes to those that have passed before us. The larger eagle became a fire sculpture, its ashes delivering the messages within. Moses also visited grades JK - 4, French and English, playing his flute and drum and teaching a couple of Ojib-Cree words. The children especially loved the charicatures he completed.
