To whom it
may concern,
We are writing
this letter in response to the art workshop that Moses Beaver facilitated
at the Amethyst Provincial Demonstration school and the Robart’s
school for the Deaf. It is our absolute pleasure to report that
the project was a huge success for both the students and the staff.
Moses led the
Amethyst students through the process of mask-making. Not only did
they gain experience working with raw materials such as clay, paper
mache and acrylic paint, but they were also sensitized to the aboriginal
worldview through song and story-telling.
The Robarts
students mixed primary colours in order to produce acrylic paintings.
They also made sculptures. Since many of the students at Robarts
are native, several of the students were very happy to be able to
create pieces of art linked to their culture and heritage. Moses
was very kind and patient with all of our students. I would also
like to thank him for donating a very beautiful painting to our
school. He is a truly gifted artist.
It was our
pleasure to welcome Moses to our two programs to share his creative
gifts. We would not hesitate to do so again in the future. We conclude
with a few accolades from the students at both Amethyst and Robarts.
“Moses
made me want to learn more about art.”
“He inspired
me because he put his feelings on a piece of paper.”
“Moses
is cool”.
“Wow!
He is an expert!”
Thank you so
much for giving our students this very unique opportunity!
Sincerely,
Krista Brain
(Robarts Teacher of the Deaf) and Jennifer Sontrop (Amethyst Teacher)
